Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)
Murus Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) SIPs provide an excellent alternative to EPS, where higher R-values and thinner cross-sections are required and budget considerations are not a priority. The XPS foam is a rigid cellular closed-cell foam, and the manufacturing process consists of extruding polystyrene foam into a pre-determined length and thickness, milling it to assure dimensional uniformity, then pressure-laminating it to the panel skins. Murus XPS SIPs are installed using plywood key splines.
Among the benefits of Murus XPS SIPs:
- Can provide the highest R-value (R-57) of all SIP foam core types
- Foam core is exceptionally moisture-resistant
- Extremely durable one-part structural urethane adhesive results in a bond stronger than the materials it laminates together
- Excellent alternative for building projects requiring thinner cross-sections
