Homeowners > Timber Frame & Log Home Use
The Murus Company, Inc. was originally founded for the sole purpose of supplying insulating panels to the timber framing industry. Since a timber frame is in itself a complete self-supporting structure, SIPs are the perfect compliment, providing excellent R-values and an airtight envelope, while saving considerable construction time over stick framed, built-up enclosures. Today, Murus SIPs are utilized by many timber framers throughout the country as an integral part of their package offerings. Murus insulating panels have many features that make installation over timber frame structures faster, easier, and more desirable than conventional framing methods. A variety of panel skins, panel thicknesses, and lengths ensures the right product for the job.
Log homes are a unique building technique that can be optimized by using Murus SIPs for the roofing structure. Applied over the top of your log rafter, purlin, or truss system, Murus SIPs will provide a clean, integrative interior surface for ease of finishing while providing superior insulation values and energy efficiency for your log home.
Whether you’re planning a timber frame or a log home, Murus precision factory CNC pre-cutting can speed the installation process even more by saving construction time and on-site waste volume and waste disposal expense. Entire wall or roof sections are assembled, and Murus pre-cuts the window and door openings, adjusts the overall panel lengths, and routs the panel foam cores to accommodate inlet plates and nailers. The panels are then disassembled and labeled to correspond with pre-cut drawings (included) for assembly and installation on site.
Whatever your preference - log or timber frame -Murus has the SIP solution to suit your needs.
