Builders > SIP Overview
The majority of contractors are building houses today using the same materials and methods they've used for decades...standard stick frame construction. In the competitive home building market where most building professionals provide essentially the same product and service, builders have been forced to compete on price, which naturally results in a push to build homes in less time and for less money than the next builder. Add to this the changing building and energy codes, the skyrocketing costs of materials, and the customers’ demands for energy efficiency and it’s no wonder so many builders are frustrated.
As a builder this scenario is probably familiar, but it's not your only choice. If you are ready to take a fresh look at your business and leave the price-undercutting, highly competitive world behind, we have a proven solution for you!
A growing number of homeowners are demanding homes that are better built and more energy efficient than the homes commonly built today. Uncertain about our nation's future heating and cooling energy costs, many people are looking for ways to build energy savings into their new homes. Some consumers, concerned about the environment, are also looking for "green" alternatives to standard construction. Murus SIPs make all of this possible while providing an exciting opportunity for builders who want to escape from cost-based stick-framing.
By changing a couple of aspects of your building process, primarily the structural system and insulation, you can set yourself apart in the home building market, give consumers what they want, and stop competing with stick-frame builders.
Murus SIPs are panelized wall and roof sections that are custom-manufactured from your plans. Instead of building a structure stick by stick, your crew simply erects the panels to form each wall and/or roof section. Once the panels are erected, you have a structure with insulation in place, sheathed in OSB inside and out, and ready for mechanicals and finishing work. For most construction crews, the learning curve is short, and once your crew has had some experience, you can shave down your framing time while increasing quality. And don’t be concerned about ‘breaking into a totally new technology’. SIPs have been around a long time and many designers and building inspectors are already familiar with SIPs and their benefits. On May 23, 2007, SIPs were adopted into the International Residential Code (IRC), making additional engineering and documentation for residential SIP construction unnecessary in many code jurisdictions.
Murus SIPs are manufactured using strict in-house quality control standards and are routinely inspected by an independent third party agency, thus assuring that the product you receive is of the highest quality.
Murus SIPs can be factory pre-cut using some of the most advanced computer controlled CNC equipment in the SIP Industry, providing accuracy to your plan, while significantly reducing construction site waste volume and disposal expense.
Murus is here to support you as well; with literature and information for your clients, technical details and engineering for your inspectors, manuals and on-site technical assistance for your crews, and product warranties from a stable, long standing company for your peace of mind. This is the Murus difference.
